MUSCLE SHOALS — The Westbrook Christian girls high school golf team secured a spot in the Class 1A-5A state high school golf tournament Tuesday.
The Warriors needed a sudden death playoff to do it, but they clinched a berth in the state tourney for the third consecutive season.
Westbrook and White Plains each finished with a score of 257 after regulation, and since the top three teams advance, the teams went to the playoff.
After each team played the No. 1 hole at Cypress Lakes Golf Club, the Warriors’ team of Ali Porter, Ella Lawley, April Godsey and Hope Cone scored 17, one shot better than the Wildcats.
Alexandria and Muscle Shoals scored 236 and 245, respectively, to land spots in the state tournament as well.
Glencoe managed to place Hope Bishop and Madison Cole in the state tournament as individuals. Bishop and White Plains’ Reagan Thompson each shot 81 to move on.
Cole carded an 82 to round out the players qualifying from teams that did not advance to the state tournament.
The Warriors play in the tourney Monday and Tuesday at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Capitol Hill.
