Coosa Christian's Mills named Class 1A, Region 7 Defensive MVP


Coosa Christian’s Ben Mills recently was named the 2013 Class 1A, Region 7 Defensive MVP on the All-Region high school football team.

Mills finished with 159 tackles, including 33 for a loss and seven sacks, and seven forced fumbles. Joining Mills on the All-Region first team were teammates Johnny Grizzard and Seth Williamson.

Making the honorable mention list for the Conquerors were Caleb Sanderson, Drake Burger and Michael Green.

Other first-teamers included Collinsville’s Shaq Dupree, Kevin McElrath, Jalyn Martin, Brady Osborn, Tanner Nelson, Jordan Leath and Aaron Rodriguez, Gaylesville’s Cole Murphy, Gage Davis, Logan Hurley, Allen LaFavor, Seth Dawson and Dylan Mitchell, Cedar Bluff’s Dalton Cosby, Blake Terry, Jake Mintz, Devante Dixon and Wesley Richardson and Spring Garden’s Will Ivey, Matt Mullinax, Hunter Crider and Hunter Bondie.

Honorable mentions included Collinsville’s Alexis Sanchez and Montreal Hill, Gaylesville’s Dylan Cavin, Will Smith, Daniel Williams, Austin Lindsey and Gable Lawson, Cedar Bluff’s Delontae Williams, Logan Shinn and Jordan McElroy and Spring Garden’s Ben Ivey, Quentin Downey and Sam Parris.

Jacksonville Christian’s Daylon Brackett was chosen as the Offensive MVP while Rusty Higdon of Valley Head was the Coach of the Year.
