Sardis' Rains tops Dirty Dozen

Sardis’ Brett Rains made an impact on both offense and defense in Week 5, and for his effort, the wide receiver was named the top player in The Gadsden Times’ Dirty Dozen.

Rains caught six passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns — including what turned out to be the game-winner with 4:38 to go in a 31-24 win over Geraldine.

He then made a diving interception at the 8-yard line with 1:11 remaining to seal the victory.

2. Dantley Coker, Southside

The Southside senior fullback put the Panthers on his shoulders, running 31 times for 283 yards and two touchdowns en route to a 30-24 win over Springville.



3. Matt Mullinax, Spring Garden

A 5-foot-7 fullback, the junior rushed 31 times for 253 yards and two touchdowns to go along with a receiving score in a 56-35 win over Jacksonville Christian.

4. Dylan Stone, Glencoe

The speedy junior quarterback led the Yellow Jackets to a 49-20 win over Hokes Bluff with 180 rushing yards, 108 passing yards and four total touchdowns.



5. Will Scott, Sardis

A model of consistency, the senior quarterback completed 12 of 19 passes for 238 yards and three touchdowns in a 31-24 victory over Geraldine.

6. Wil Appleton, Westbrook

Passed for 216 yards, two TDs and had a rushing score in a win over Ohatchee.

7. Shai Ogles, Gaston

Ran for 140 yards and scored three total touchdowns in a win over Wadley.

8. Dylan Mackey, Sand Rock

Passed for 172 yards and accounted for three total TDs in a win over Plainview.

9. Gage Davis, Gayelsville

Rushed for 170 yards and three touchdowns and added a 74-yard punt return for a score in the Trojans’ 48-14 win over Coosa.

10. Austin Hallmark, Sardis

Returned a fumble 45 yards for a touchdown and intercepted a pass to set up a TD to help Sardis knock off Geraldine 31-24.

11. Trent Thrash, Fyffe

Had 11 tackles, two sacks and forced fumble to go along with 127 rushing yards and two TDs in a 34-6 win over Walter Wellborn.

12. Kordell Rudolph, Etowah

The quarterback played a big part in the Blue Devils’ 28-21 win over Lincoln, passing for 166 yards and two touchdowns.
