Westbrook baseball, Glencoe softball lead area teams in ASWA state rankings

Westbrook Christian lead area baseball teams and Glencoe topped the list of area softball teams in the initial 2013 state high school rankings released Thursday morning by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.

Class 2A Westbrook and Class 3A Glencoe are ranked No. 2 in their respective sport classifications. 

Other area baseball teams ranked in the initial poll included Southside at No. 6 in 5A, Etowah at No. 8 in 5A, Piedmont at No. 4 in 3A, Sand Rock at No. 7 in 2A, West End at No. 9 in 2A, Cedar Bluff at No. 4 in 1A and Spring Garden at No. No. 6 in 1A.

Joining the Yellow Jackets from The Gadsden Times’ coverage area in the initial softball rankings are Cherokee County at No. 3 in 4A, West End at No. 5 in 2A and Spring Garden at No. 10 in 1A.
