Sand Rock beats Spring Garden 4-0 in baseball


SAND ROCK — Sand Rock shut out Spring Garden 4-0 Thursday in pool play of the Tri-County high school baseball tournament.

Perry Stevens got the win for the Wildcats. He threw five innings, allowed two hits and struck out nine.

Grant Benefield, who had seven strikeouts, took the loss for the Panthers.

Sand Rock scored the only run it needed in the first inning on an error, before plating three runs in the fourth.

Ethan Jimmerson led off with a double and Dylan Mackey walked. Zane Farrar singled in one run and Braden Carver hit a two-out, two-run single.

Sand Rock (1-1) plays Gaylesville at 11 a.m. Saturday.
