RAINBOW CITY — Two Westbrook Christian athletes recently signed scholarships to play at the next level.
Mary Katherine Catanzaro signed with Birmingham-Southern College to play basketball, while Ali Collins signed with Columbia College in South Carolina to play soccer.
Catanzaro, who set the career scoring record at Westbrook Christian during the 2011-12 season, was a varsity letterman in basketball from eighth grade through her senior year and Sunday was named to The Gadsden Times’ All-Etowah County team. She averaged 12.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game during her high school career. She also lettered in soccer and volleyball.
Collins set a school record with most goals in a season with 20. She was All-Area and All-State as a senior and led the Warriors in scoring from 2010-2012. She will be traveling to Germany in June for U21 United World Soccer Games.
